Adding CarPlay to a 2014 Panamera PCM3.1
Update: The CarPlay interface has been upgraded to a wireless CarPlay–supported version, allowing CarPlay to be used without a physical cable connection.

This post documents how to add a CarPlay interface box to a 2014 Panamera equipped with PCM3.1. The PCM head unit must be opened to install a touchscreen signal injection circuit board, which enables CarPlay control directly through the factory display. The wiring harness is pin-to-pin, requiring no cutting or splicing of factory wiring.

Audio output from the CarPlay box is routed to the PCM system through the factory AUX input using the included wiring harness, maintaining OEM sound integration.
December 2018 Update: The system software for this CarPlay box was updated to support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto within the same unit, eliminating the need for separate interfaces.
Below are two test videos demonstrating system operation and performance.
