Add steering wheel heating(Replace steering control module and clock spring)
Porsche only supplies ordered functions from the factory. If the old steering wheel does not have heating, the factory-equipped steering control module and clock spring hardware do not have heating control electric parts and clock spring heating power supply pins. Fortunately, we can replace the steering control and clock spring hardware with heating support and activate the functions if needed.
For adding the heating function, a heated steering wheel and the steering wheel electronics control unit (Clock spring) must also be ordered and activated (VIN-specific enabling code) by PIWIS. For this upgrade, you will need your VIN number to purchase all active codes (997/987 no active code needed).
If the equipped steering wheel is of the basic style (only with PDK buttons) or the control module parts number is 7PP.953.568.AR, then you must replace it with a multifunction support steering control module hardware (Parts number #958.652.568.14) and code it.
1, Replace the steering control module (including the clock spring) with a heated support, 991.1/981/958.1 heated and multifunctional support steering control module (including the clock spring) with the parts number 958-652-568-14.

2, Buy the heating and multifunction enable code, which is related to the VIN.
3, Dealership install new steering control module and coding by PIWIS activate multifunction and heating, Steps can be found here https://gpsadapter.us/blogs/installation-guide/add-heating-and-multifunction. Installing new steering control module without coding will result in many error messages in instrument display, as many ECUs need to communicate with the steering angle sensor built-in steering control module.
4, Gpsadapter must be installed to the new steering wheel.
**You need to replace the steering control module and use PIWIS to code it. You also need to inquire about the ordered functions code (on-board computer, cruise control) in the Porsche dealership system by VIN, and calibrate the steering control module with PIWIS.

Replace steering wheel electronics control unit(include clock spring) work procedure:
1 Disconnect battery;
2 Remove drivers's airbag unit;
3 Remove original steering wheel;
4 Replace electronics control unit(Clock spring) and steering-column switch(Only for vehicles without multi-function steering wheel),original steering-column switch of multifunction control can keep connected also;
4.1 Remove steering column casing;
4.2 Remove steering-column switch;
4.3 Install new steering wheel electronics control unit(Clock spring) on the new steering-column switch(Only for vehicles without multi-function steering wheel);
4.4 Install steering-column switch;
4.5 Slide cover(991.552.675.00.1E0)into the steering column casing;
4.6 Install steering column casing;
5 Code control units and calibrate steering angel sensor following step.
5.1 PIWIS Tester must be connected before switching on the ignition.Write basic coding from PCM.
5.1.1 Select Steering wheel electronics control unit. Press •F11“ to confirm the question “Create vehicle analysis log (VAL)?”.
Switch to the Maintenance/repairs menu.
5.1.2 Select Control unit replacement. Press •F12“ to continue.
5.1.3 Select Write data mode. Press •F12“ to continue.Press •F8“ to write basic information.Wait until the message Coding has been written successfully appears. Press •F12“ to continue.
5.1.4 Press •F11“ to go back. Switch to the Overview menu.
Check the chassis number in the steering wheel electronics control unit.
5.1.5 Select Steering wheel electronics control unit.
Switch to the Extended identification menu. Check the chassis number and change it if necessary.

7 Enable functions.
7.1 Switch to the Maintenance/repairs menu. Select the Function enable function.
7.2 Enable the Heated steering wheel and multi-function steering wheel function. Enter the activation codes and confirm by touching the Status cell.
7.3 Enable the Cruise control function if necessary.Enter the activation code and confirm by touching the Status cell.
7.4 Press •F8“ to execute. Wait until the message Enable was successful appears. Press •F12“ to continue.
8 Calibrate steering-angle sensor.
The steering angle sensor is integrated into the steering electronic controller(Clock Spring) and is responsible for recording the movement of the steering wheel (steering wheel angle). Data is transferred to the PSM control unit via the CAN bus.
8.1 Select from the control unit overview in PIWIS: Steering wheel electronics-->Maintenance/repairs-->Steering-angle sensor calibration
8.2 Follow the PIWIS system prompts,calibration successful PSM indicator in instrument is off.
9 Read out the fault memories of all systems, work through any existing faults and erase the fault memories.
