For adding the heating function, a heated steering wheel and the steering wheel electronics control unit (Clock spring) must also be ordered and activated (VIN-specific enabling code) by PIWIS. For this upgrade, you will need your VIN number to purchase all active codes (997/987 no active code needed).
If the equipped steering wheel is of the basic style (only with PDK buttons) or the control module parts number is 7PP.953.568.AR, then you must replace it with a multifunction support steering control module hardware (Parts number #958.652.568.14) and code it.
1, Replace the steering control module (including the clock spring) with a heated support, 991.1/981/958.1 heated and multifunctional support steering control module (including the clock spring) with the parts number 958-652-568-14.
997.2 Heating and Multifunction Support Steering Control Module Parts Number: 997-613-299-02, Heating Support Clock Spring Parts Number: 955-652-611-22
2, Buy the heating and multifunction enable code, which is related to the VIN.
3, Dealership install new steering control module and coding by PIWIS activate multifunction and heating, Steps can be found here https://gpsadapter.us/blogs/installation-guide/add-heating-and-multifunction. Installing new steering control module without coding will result in many error messages in instrument display, as many ECUs need to communicate with the steering angle sensor built-in steering control module.
4, Gpsadapter must be installed to the new steering wheel.
**You need to replace the steering control module and use PIWIS to code it. You also need to inquire about the ordered functions code (on-board computer, cruise control) in the Porsche dealership system by VIN, and calibrate the steering control module with PIWIS.
This is the Porsche official guide for steering wheel multifunction operation, for reference <Download>

If you need to keep the 991.1/981 'Paddle Neutral' function - 'pull both paddle shifters simultaneously and the PDK shifts to neutral', please retain the Vehicle Configuration Data steering wheel type with the Sport Design steering wheel. Changing the steering wheel type to multifunction will result in the loss of the 'Paddle Neutral' function.
If the equipped steering wheel is of the basic style (only with PDK buttons) or the control module parts number is 7PP.953.568.AR, then you must replace it with a multifunction support steering control module hardware (Parts number #958.652.568.14) and code it.
Following the coding guide for (991.1/981/958/970)
1.Connect PIWIS,Press F7 or select "Add Menu".
2.Select "Maintentance of vehicle data".
3.1 Uncheck old none multifunction steering wheel,Select new MF steering wheel installed.(991.1/981),if new steering wheel with heating, please select ‘345-Steering Wheel Heating’ as installed.
3.2 Select new MF installed.(970 Panamera/958.1 Cayenne)
4.Press F8 to save.
5.In the overview page Ctrl+A select all ECUs.

7.Select "Steering-Wheel Electronic",enter "Maintenance repairs" select "Function enable"
8.Input the enable code you get and save.
9. Clear all faults code,IGNITION OFF the car, ignition on and enjoy new MF wheel.
]]>Macan/991.2 steering wheel peddle shifts straight install to 997.1 can work, no need steering control module replacement. If 997.1 old steering wheel with multifunction, please coding set multifunction to disable.
Tips#2
We do not guarantee adapter will work with aftermarket stereos. There is a possibility, though if you already have it working with a stock steering wheel that it may still work without having to do anything. But if it doesn’t, you will need CANBUS decoder for example, pioneer, or Alpine. https://mrcanbus.com/products/paser-unican-plus-steering-wheel-control-canbus-interface
991.1/997.2 sport design steering wheel peddles shifts and new multifunction control work in 997.1 need to be replaced steering control module and coded following these steps:
997.1 steering wheel swap and replace steering control module, Thank you, Jim, for sharing this video.
997.1 upgrades to 997.2 steering wheel control module (997.613.289.00 or 997.613.289.01) need to be coded with PIWIS following these steps:
1. Select F7 "Additional Menu" and do a "vehicle handover".
2. The "vehicle handover" runs automatically. When prompted if the car is new, select "no" and then confirm your chassis number (VIN). The "vehicle handover" is needed for recognizing your new steering wheel unit, so that all other control modules are able to communicate with it.
*If the vehicle handover cannot be successful, disconnect the vehicle battery, wait 5-10 minutes, and then reconnect and try to do the vehicle handover in PIWIS again.
3. Select to "steering col. switch" unit and read and erase all fault memories. Then switch to "codings" and set "Automatic (Tiptronic/PDK)" and "PDK" (both!) to "installed". Also set "Multi-function or Sport/Launch display" and all your other values to "installed" if the car is equipped with them (for example speed control system).
4. Then select "PSM" unit and read and erase all fault memories. After that read your security code (The security code is read with the PIWIS2
under menu item "Actual values") and do a steering-wheel-sensor-calibration (security code is needed here). (some cars need this calibration clear PSM faults)
5. Erase all fault memories and then have fun while driving a Tiptronic car with PDK-Paddles
